In venture capital we look for Blue Flames – founders who are ready to fulfill their greatest potential in the next 5-10 years.
Turns out this works for others, not just for founders.
And what’s more: it doesn’t work if we just focus on founders. We need Blue Flame teamsand Blue Flame communities to draw from: a critical mass (in our experience no more than 100) who are ready to fulfill their greatest potential in the next 5-10 years.
Thus, in Ignite we began a new movement for Blue Flames:
Do what you were born to do in the company of others who are doing what they were born to do.
Out of all this, a Manifesto was born.
These 8 points contain our source code for what has become the World’s 1st O/S (Operating System) for Greatness. This is what we seek to ignite and to operationalize – to bring to everyday life as a way of life – in every one we touch, as individuals, as teams, as organizations.
At Ignite, we know these to be true:
GENIUS
First, that I am gifted with my own Genius – unique, unrepeated and unrepeatable for all time.
PURPOSE
Second, that my singular Genius bears the thumbprint of Who I Am and Why I am Here.
Genius points to Purpose, Purpose to Genius.
SERVICE
Third, that I can only give out of what I have been given. And what I have been given, I must give and live for others.
Genius finds its fullness in Service – a Purpose bigger than self.
SHARED MISSION
Fourth, that if I am honest and brave, my Genius and Purpose will find their manifest call in a shared Mission – with others, for others.
A Mission rooted in finding that particular slice of humanity whose particular pains I am particularly gifted (and compelled!) to heal.
COLLABORATION
Fifth, that shared Mission leads naturally to Collaboration.
If we are a collection of our own Genius – each unique, unrepeated, unrepeatable – where then can we go, but to Innovation.
IMPACT
We Ignite, therefore, not just for self, but for each other.
Because what we are born to do, we are born to do with others and for others.
We need each other’s Genius. And far beyond Genius, we need each other to be on this journey, to fulfill this necessary progression: from a sense of our own individual Genius, Purpose, and Service (GPS) toward shared Mission and Collaboration, and ultimately, to Innovation and Impact.
TRANSCEND
This is the path of transcendence.
This is how we lift each other to heights we never in our wildest dreams, or loftiest ambitions, dared.
……..
The Ignite Manifesto as brought to life through Participative Performance Art, a fixture throughout our Ignite Journey:
Discern
Stories, reflections, revelations. About mission, meaning, purpose, values, love, failure, redemption, the stuff that goes into building transcendent ventures and living transcendent lives.

Transcend
Dear Friends,
Welcome to a place for founders by founders. No, really. An early mistake taught us a golden lesson about this.
Our mission remains to startup, scale, and sustain transcendent ventures, and do it again and again in partnership with founders.
Everything we do centers on founders – from our investment focus and unprecedented venture capital process, to the core values we nurture and bring to greater fruition in every one of our founders.
However. We quickly learned that to ignite founders, we must ignite in far greater scale the people and communities surrounding them – the very cities they live in. Igniting founders has driven us to ignite no less than a movement: Ignite 100!
Here’s a short film on the full expanse of Ignite – at least for now!

Quick updates:
Ignite Founders Circle is now, more simply yet more powerfully, the Ignite Circle – still the jump-off point of every Igniter’s journey.
From the Ignite Circle, we do Ignite 21 – full-day retreats to anchor our innovation ventures on deep personal truths: one’s Genius, Purpose, and Service, or GPS.
From Ignite 21, we go onto Ignite xChanges, live labs for innovation and collaboration.
The insight: the best way we’ve found to support founders is to support them hand in hand with the folks around them whom they’re recruiting into their teams, and more expansively, their broader ecosystem of partners and collaborators.
So when we invest, we don’t just inject financial capital: we bring to bear the force of our movement and community as human, social, network and mission capital.
We do all that and more via ignitegifts.com, where our mantra is:
Do what you were born to do in the company of others who are doing what they were born to do.

INVESTMENT PROCESS
We’re very clear about this: to build and invest in transcendent ventures, first and foremost we build up and invest in founders.
We do this through a series of progressive year-round programs designed to enable founders and co. to discover, pursue, and transcend their greatest potential. In so doing, transcendent founders build breakthrough solutions to society’s wicked problems, while scaling sustainable business models and delivering outsize investment returns.
When these transcendent ventures breach billion dollar valuations, we call them Holy Unicorns. Our vision, by 2025, is to be the global #1 in starting up, scaling, and sustaining the world’s Holy Unicorns.
Monthly to bi-monthly Ignite Circles to bring each metro’s most brilliant problem-solvers into our community. We’ve also added monthly Retreats and Firesides to help Igniters deepen their road to transcendence.
…
Bi-monthly Ignite Exchanges in the form of Corporate Innovation Labs and Venture Labs – thematic problem-solving sessions involving a diversity of curated innovators.
…
Qualified Founders Circlers and Exchangers go onto Founders Lab and receive funding and other resources to prove product-market fit, user traction, scalable economics and other key milestones.
…
By 2020, 20 ventures funded via Founders Leap that have the potential to scale as transcendent ventures.
…
Combined annual revenues of ventures funded via Founders Lab &/or Leap top US$1 Billion by 2025.
…
By 2025, we should have built the first Filipino Unicorn – the first billion-dollar Filipino startup – to breakthrough with a solution that impacts humanity and matters on a global scale.

FOUNDERS KEEPERS
There are entrepreneurs, then there are founders.
Founders are seekers and keepers of transcendence. No matter how strategy, business model or vision might iterate, evolve or pivot, founders always go back to that deep well of mission:
It is a question founders ask twice: first, of ourselves as individuals; then, of the ventures we build.
Paradoxically, it is by going beyond our self-interest, beyond fame and fortune, beyond fear and doubt – that we are able to transcend our limits and change the world.

INVESTMENT FOCUS
We build and invest in ventures that advance humanity’s capacity for transcendence at the individual, organizational and/or societal level; and do so at sustainable profit and scale.
By transcendence, we mean the fulfillment of one’s greatest potential:
For individuals – the fulfillment of their life’s mission, where their greatest talent and passion meet the world’s deepest need.
For organizations – the fulfillment of their mission, vision, values, strategies and key competencies, which are lived through their employees for the greater benefit of society.
For nations and global society – the fulfillment of the ideals of justice, peace, sustainability and equal dignity and opportunity for all.

SECTOR FOCUS
We build and invest in sectors that directly touch and impact a human being’s capacity for greatness and transcendence:
Education + Youth;
Health + Lifestyle;
Livelihood + Careers;
Media + Technology.
Ultimately, it is not the sector, but the founder’s commitment to mission, purpose and values that drives transcendent ventures.

FOUNDER VALUES
In this work for, with, and by founders, we rely fundamentally on the values of two great founders who have guided us so vitally in our own course: St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus (aka the Jesuits) and St. Josemaria Escriva de Balaguer, founder of Opus Dei.
To be clear, we are non-sectarian. We neither require religious belief, nor do we impose religion. We embrace founders from all walks who are committed to our universal mission of transcendence, which itself transcends religion.
At the same time, it would be impossible for us to exclude the founders Ignatius and Josemaria, whose example of love and service so centrally shape our desire to love and serve; and indeed, whose example inspires this entire mission to Ignite Founders.

AMDG: DISCERNMENT + MAGIS
In Ignatius, we rely fundamentally on the values of Discernment and Magis. To help founders discern – that is, find God’s (or the universe, if you prefer) purpose and design in everything we do. And thus, to do everything with Magis, “more, always more”, which is the spirit of relentless excellence in the service of others that defines everything we do. In sum, we refer to all this as AMDG – Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, to give everything in all for the greater glory of God.

WHOLENESS OF WORK
In Josemaria, we rely fundamentally on the value of Apostolic Work. To help founders embrace the extraordinary value of work in sanctifying the world – by surrounding them with circles of trust and friendship, to help founders build ventures driven, not by fame and fortune, but first and foremost by service and mission, a burning love and boundless generosity that find special cause in helping people find and then spread wholeness through work.

ABOUT US
This is about as extensive as “About Us” gets. We share our mission, vision and values right here in Transcend; our ongoing work in Ventures and Founders; and our day to day adventures of mind, body and spirit in Discern, where we also tell the story of how we got on this journey.
It is a story that unfolds everyday. We hope you will be co-authors with us. Let’s build transcendent ventures rooted in living transcendent lives.

We’re building a marketspace where people buy, sell and discover the joys of authentic hand-crafted (i.e., not mass produced) food and lifestyle experiences.
CORE VALUE: DISCOVERY
To co-opt the famous line: the undiscovered life is not worth living.
We believe that Discovery is the true spice of food, as of life. We believe that continuous discovery of one’s authentic tastes and preferences – what one truly and consistently values (vs, for example, what is trendy or easy) – leads to a better appreciation of one’s uniqueness as an individual and thus a stronger sense of how one can participate, contribute and add value to the world. Therefore, we strive to inspire and empower people to meaningful and continuous discovery of their authentic tastes and preferences – in life thru food.
CORE VALUE: ENTREPRENEURSHIP
At the heart of Joylist are entrepreneurs: our founding team of entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurs whose passion for hand-crafted food experiences we support – so they can continue to pursue their craft, make it sustainable and grow and serve as big a market as they are willing to dream.

To serially start up, scale and sustain transcendent ventures, we need the kind of capital that’s willing and able to come in early, make decisive bets on founders, and commit capacity, network and resources to back them all the way to transcendence.
The Y Groupe invests in seed stage opportunities and follow-on capital requirements. We also work with investors and corporate venturing groups to develop and fund private equity and strategic investment opportunities, including startup, buyout, special purpose and roll-up vehicles.
Unique to The Y Groupe is COI. The Customer Ownership Initiative is our proprietary platform for evaluating and managing private equity investments as a portfolio of customer segments, the key lever being to maximize customer lifetime value: to own the customer. With COI, we can build and invest beyond the traditional confines of industry and sector. Our allegiance is to high-value customers, we follow them and build trusted relationships across sectors. Thus, we are more interested in building portfolio around mothers, diabetics, or migrant workers than in defining investments around sectors like retail, healthcare, banking, technology, gaming, video, mobile, etc.

Born in the USA and growing up in Asia, the Center for University-Based Enterprise & Development builds and invests in startup hubs and venture accelerators dedicated to creating collaborative, geo-concentrated corridors of innovation among faculty, alumni, students and the broader communities encompassed by leading universities, including private corporations and investors.
The CUBED mission is to democratize entrepreneurship – through universities, to reach out to people from all walks and offer entrepreneurship as a viable career choice, one that feeds passion and purpose, builds on one’s talents, and affords a life of one’s choosing. And yes: makes the world a better place.
CUBED started in New Haven, Connecticut as CUBED@UNH, hosted by the University of New Haven and located strategically between Boston and New York City. CUBED’s current development is 1.4 K-COR, in the Katipunan Corridor of Quezon City, straddling 1.4 kilometers between 2 of Asia’s finest universities, Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines.
K-COR is the Katipunan Corridor, 1.4 kilometers the distance bridging the Ateneo and the University of the Philippines, two of Asia’s finest universities, both located in Katipunan. K-COR is the Katipunan Corridor, 1.4 kilometers the distance bridging the Ateneo and the University of the Philippines, two of Asia’s finest universities, both located in Katipunan.
K-COR is not a top-down, government or big company chartered development; not even an Ateneo or UP mandate, although we have many and deep collaborations with both schools, as with government and the private sector.
K-COR is a movement for, with, by entrepreneurs, technologists, designers, scholars and thinkers, the creative forces that make Katipunan a singular hotbed for startups and game-changers. Unlike other venture hubs, K-COR isn’t just place or program. K-COR’s driving force is culture, Katipunan is our way of life. We don’t just work here; many of us live here, our friends are here, we spent the happiest, most formative years of our lives here. In Ateneo, in UP, in Miriam our highest ideals and best ideas were born. This is where we learned to get things done, to excel, to work as teams, to fight and never give up. Loyalty and friendship were nurtured here, and service. We love Katipunan for better and for worse. We choose to stay here and many more of us are coming back or moving in, in many cases after advanced degrees and careers in the US and Europe – calling Katipunan home and base for building the future.
We see it as a collective future, our whole greater than our sum of parts. Thus, on the development side, K-COR’s role is to enable the synergies that serially spawn game-changers.
First, to foster encounters and exchanges – on and off campus, in office spaces, in cafes and restaurants; regular encounters and exchanges with daily, weekly, monthly venues and formats.
Second, to channel those synergies towards focused areas of innovation and disruption – not into silos, but into interdisciplinary clusters where K-COR’s base enjoys natural advantages. Example: OpenTV, a disruption platform for turning text-heavy IP into video-rich cloud and mobile content offerings.
Third, to support the synergies with capital and other resources needed to turn game-changing ideas into game-changing products and game-changing companies.
